Kuruk is the Water Tribe Avatar who precedes Kyoshi. Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos is an announced animated series about his younger adventures.
His place in the Avatar cycle
Kuruk comes before Kyoshi, who comes before Roku and Aang. He belongs to an earlier period than both Korra and Pavi. A new Kuruk series is therefore not Book 2 of Seven Havens and does not replace Pavi as the next Avatar after Korra.
The new series premise
Paramount describes a teenage Kuruk learning the four elements through travel and adventure, with a teacher, pirates and spirits among the forces around him. The announcement also introduces his pet, Nikik.
Older lore and a new introduction
Kuruk's broader history appears across Avatar material. A premise for a new show is not a full account of how that show will adapt or expand every earlier detail. This profile keeps the new series' announced setup separate from predictions about its plot.
